That’s why I’ve kept things simple with one photography package—no confusing choices, just an experience built for fun and connection. This way, we can focus on what truly matters: capturing your dog’s personality, spirit, and the bond you share in timeless images you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
The Portrait Experience
Sessions are held in either Victoria or Nanaimo
(A travel fee will apply if you desire a location outside of these areas.)
Includes 10 high-resolution digital images delivered through a private online gallery. Additional images can be purchased at $20/image
Enjoy a tailored session up to 2 hours on location & up to 2 dogs from the same family.
Sessions are held closer to sunrise & sunset, rain or shine. (Hours are more flexible in winter months.)
Pre-planning discussion via email/ and or social media prior to session date.

Session Process
1.
Booking
First step is to book your session! You can connect with me via my contact form, or by email at info@vanislandphotos.com
From there we will choose a date and go over any questions or concerns. I will send you a contract to sign and the non-refundable $50 deposit will be due at this time.
2.
Planning
Once the first step is completed, I will be in contact with you and we will start planning!
We will go over locations and I will send a short questionnaire to be filled out. This will help me get to know you and your pup prior to the shoot.
3.
Photoshoot
Photoshoot day! I will meet you at the chosen location and we will ease into the session. I like to allow time for your pup to explore and sniff without any pressure to pose. We are there to have fun!
After our session I will give you an estimated time frame on when you can expect your gallery delivery (roughly 1-2 weeks). You will receive an email with a link to your gallery where you can download your images.

Do you work with fearful/reactive dogs?
Of course. I have a rescue dog who is fearful and reactive so I truly understand how stressful new environments and people can be for them. I always allow the dog to approach me and sniff me first, often ignoring them initially if they seem fearful to reduce any pressure. I also prefer quieter times and locations, which are more suitable for dogs are reactive.
I have also worked in the dog industry for 10 years and fully understand those key signals that a dog is stressed or nervous.
My dog can't be off-leash, can we still do a session?
Absolutely! You may be surprised to learn that many of the dogs I photograph are on leashes. Using advanced software and editing techniques, I can easily remove leashes collars. While I can also edit out harnesses, I generally recommend using a leash and collar during our session, as harnesses take longer to edit. However, if your dog has a medical condition that necessitates a harness that's perfectly acceptable.
How long until I receive my photos?
Five days post-photoshoot, I will provide you with a "preview" gallery featuring all the top images from our session, in their unedited form. Alongside, I will include a selection of edited photos to showcase the final look. You can then select your favourite 10 images (or more if you decide you want to purchase more). After you've made your selections, I will edit them, and you'll receive your fully edited gallery within two weeks.
